Urban planner, cycling advocate, and founder of active transport advocacy group MNL Moves, Aldrin Pelicano shares with us tips to anyone before going on a ride or who wants to give biking a start. Here are his must-haves:
· Helmets. “Investing in a good helmet is always worth it,” says Aldrin. “When choosing a helmet, always look for the Consumer Product Safety Committee (CPSC) sticker inside. This ensures you’ll be offered a high level of protection if you do end up in a crash.”
· Bike Lights. It is important to see and be seen when you’re out on the road, and Aldrin advises us to “choose a white bike light in front and red bike light for the back. High visibility (hi-viz) clothes or vest and straps can also help for you to be visible especially in low-light conditions or at night.”
· Repair Kits. “Don’t go out on a ride, whether short or long, without your tool kit,” says Aldrin. “A good kit should include spare tube/s and/or patch kit, pump, tire levers and cycling multi-tool.”
· A Bike bag – “It’s a good idea to bring essentials like IDs, money, mask, face shield (if you will go to an indoor place, closed venue), food and water,” says Aldrin. And find yourself a good bag for all your stuff.
· A Water bottle – “If your bike has eyelets,” says Aldrin.” it would be good to get a bottle cage so you can bring water bottles for hydration.”
· Wear as you ride – How do you dress the part? Some advice from Aldrin: “You don’t have to wear cycling jerseys to make trips on a bicycle. As long as it’s comfortable and will help you ride safely, any clothes should do it. Also, “don’t underestimate the sun so it’s also good to wear some protection like arm sleeves and sunglasses.”

Share a Toy booths with bag of toys, play sets, educational board games and novelty will be set up in all The SM Store and Toy Kingdom branches nationwide. Here, shoppers will have the chance to bring and donate pre-loved or brand new toys that they can purchase from The SM Store’s Toy Express and Toy Kingdom.
They will be entitled to a P100 discount coupon for every item donated which can be redeemed on a minimum single-receipt purchase worth P1000.
These toys will be donated to thousands of less fortunate children from The SM Store and SM Foundation’s partner organization within the branch vicinities. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) set up a National ID registration site at SM City Marilao to provide an accessible and safe space for Step 2 registration and biometric process.
Located at the second floor of the mall, the Philippine Identification System (Philsys) Registration site is open from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Mondays to Saturdays.
The Step 2 registration validates demographic data and obtains biometric information such as iris scan, fingerprints, and front-facing photographs.
Once done, registrants will have to wait for the Philippine Postal Corporation to deliver the PhilID cards or the national ID.
Signed into law by President Rodrigo R. Duterte in August 2018, Republic Act 11055, or the Philippine Identification System Act, aims to establish a single national ID for all Filipinos and resident aliens.
The national ID shall be a valid proof of identity that shall be a means of simplifying public and private transactions, enrollment in schools, and the opening of bank accounts.
It also seeks to boost efficiency, especially in dealing with government agencies where people will only need to present one ID during transactions.
PSA in SM City Marilao encourages the public to first book an appointment and enlist at register.philsys.gov.ph to maintain physical distancing measures in the registration site.
Walk-ins are highly discouraged to ensure safety protocols against Covid-19. Health protocols are also strictly observed all throughout the registration process.

Four-piece girl group R Rules are set to make a splash in the music scene with their empowering anthems.
